The battery in Merry Lynn was originally under the V-berth, but in
order to move the weight back I attached a couple of footman's loops
to the transom. I put the battery in a battery case with a strap
around it and through the loops. The strap keeps the battery from
shifting. In addition, the battery in the lazarette is convenient to
the starter and charger in the outboard. I have been thinking of
putting a charger on board. I was thinking of going up under the
side, behind the starboard seat. It would be out of the weather,
with a clear path to the battery, but with good ventilation. Only
downside would be limited accessibility. Best bet would probably be
some kind of latching mechanism.
