Rhodes 22 Location Map

Below is a Map of locations of Rhodes 22 sailboats as reported by their owners. Click on the box-like symbol in the upper right corner to see a larger image, or to edit the map.

If you own a Rhodes 22, and you have a google account, you can follow the instructions below to add your boat to the map:

  1. Click on the box-like symbol in the upper right corner. This will open a new tab. The remaining steps need to be done in that tab.
  2. If there is a 'Sign in' in the upper right corner, click it and sign in to your google account.
  3. In the left hand column near the top, the words ’SHARE’ and ‘EDIT’ appear. These are actually buttons. Click ‘EDIT’. The appearance of the sidebar will change, or perhaps disappear, and some tools will show up near the top of the screen.
  4. Zoom in on the location where you want to show your boat, for instance your marina or your home. You can zoom in pretty close and be accurate within a few feet.
  5. Click on the pin tool (it looks like an upside-down teardrop), and then click on the map where you want to place the pin. An icon will appear on the map, and a dialog box will be displayed with two input fields.
  6. The upper input field will be prepopulated with 'Point xxx' (where xxx is some number). Put your name, or the name of your boat, or both in this field. This is the value that will get displayed in the sidebar.
  7. You can enter additional information in the lower input if you wish.
  8. Click 'Save'.
  9. There doesn't seem to be any way to exit edit mode, so at this point you can just close the browser tab.

You can go back later and edit your entry to change the text or the icon or add a picture. Actually, apparently anyone with a google id can modify or remove any item on the map, so be careful when you're in edit mode. Note that the edit mode toolbar does have an 'undo' button if you make a mistake.
