Thanks Dan,
I'll be waiting to hear about your setup. When you need to stop isn't =
the time to wish you had better brakes.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Carlisle Hydrastar Brake System.
Dennis,
I bought my system from Champion last year for $390. Since I've =
undertaken a complete redo of the Triad trailer I figured I might as =
well do the brakes too. My reasons were pretty much for all pros and =
cons already mentioned on the list. Plus a few.
I wanted to simplify and commonize all my trailer connections, and it =
seems the most sense to keep them all 7 pin. The guy who mounted my new =
axles, tried to talk me into electric brakes. He claimed his dad's boat =
trailer has had them for nearly 10 years without a problem. =20
We are on the Great Lakes, so I guess I believe him for fresh water, =
but I also wanted discs, for the ease of maintenance.=20
I like the real time adjustability of an in-cab controller, =
especially if you are on slippery conditions.=20
I was skeptical about using a quick disconnect on brake lines; afraid =
of getting air or other contaminants in the system. (Also, I couldn't =
find anybody locally who knew what I was talking about.)
And the biggest reason: I'm a sucker for new gadgets that look like =
they are a "better idea" =20
I'll post a "road test" after I've tried the system out.
