The hardware that supports the Furling tube has changed some over the
years, but unless I'm mistaken they all have a block of some sort of
plastic that is screwed to the IMF tube slider/gooseneck affair.
If the piece of plastic inside the mast has broke or come off the mast
slider, the IMF tube that the sail is furled onto would slide down
through the 2 donuts it rotates in. The donuts are also secured to the
IMF slider inside the mast.
To get at the parts you need to lower the mast and slide out the entire
Furling tube and slider. If anything is broken, you'll probably see the
pieces laying on the tabernacle when you drop the mast.
If you need a new slider, Stan can certainly provide you with one.
A dumb question. When you raise the mast slider to the high position
and try to unfurl the sail, do you have the boom at something
approximating a right angle to the mast. Alsoar eyou pointing up wind
or reasonably close to it. No offense intended if these questions are
an insult.
Hope some of this might help.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] IMF Problem
I am having problems with the IMF jamming when I try to pull the sail
out. If the block is lowered all the way to the deck, the sail will go
out and in with no problems. But if I try to raise it to either position
(with the pin), the sail jams on the way out. I think the pole holding
the IMF slips down when I move the block off the deck. I have no clue
how to go about fixing this. Is it easy to take the block off the pole
(I know its just screwed on, but I'm afraid if I unscrew it, parts will
fall to the bottom of the mast and I won't know how to put it back
together. Any suggestions?
