BTW, I think I get the pointy hat award today, "The bolt on the gin pole =

  I wasn't trying to avoid the fix, just hopeful I could postpone it so =
I could sail this weekend. But taking the mast down before fixing the =
plate is not worth the risk of having the mast fall. Michael, you are =
right, I'm not great at fixing things on my own but do have someone who =
can help, I just have to wait until his schedule opens up. It sounds =
easy enought to fix but Murphy's Law always finds its way into my =
projects. Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions! Hopefully, =
I'll be up and sailing again soon.
