BlankBob & Ed,
You might check if your centerboard pivot pin is worn or has a lot of =
play.
Another technique that may reduce the noise is to pull the centerboard =
up tight into the well. If there is slop in the centerboard pennant, =
that can allow the centerboard to slap around.
If the depth of your slip will permit it, then lower the centerboard all =
the way down. Not only will the centerboard not slap, but the boat's =
roll frequency will be reduced. (i.e. the boat will not roll from side =
to side as fast)

This happens on '84 too.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] noise
Had a great week sailing in northeastern Pennsylvania but ran into =
something that has me concerned. While in the cabin in our slip =
everytime a wave from a passing boat hit the side of our boat I heard a =
thumping noise, proportional to the size of the wave. I'm convinced it =
is the centerboard/keel as I cannot find anything else that appears to =
be causing it. Does the centerboard/keel have side to side movement =
that can cause this noise?
