BlankSome degree of play is necessary for the centerboard to work properly,
so most centerboards will clunk a bit from time to time. Nothing to worry
about usually. Pulling the board up tight with the pendant should prevent
it. The board on my Gloucester clunks like that when down but not when up.

  Subject: [Rhodes22-list] noise

Had a great week sailing in northeastern Pennsylvania but ran into
something that has me concerned. While in the cabin in our slip everytime a
wave from a passing boat hit the side of our boat I heard a thumping noise,
proportional to the size of the wave. I'm convinced it is the
centerboard/keel as I cannot find anything else that appears to be causing
it. Does the centerboard/keel have side to side movement that can cause
this noise?
