Richard,
The whole point of sailing in the first place is to have fun. Heeling is fun 
and besides, it takes a lot of skill to maintain a good heel without rounding 
up. Anybody can sail a flat boat. There's little or no skill involved in 
that. 
As for putting a strain on the rigging, have you forgotten how many stays the 
Rhodes has? Believe me when I tell you...it ain't gonna break unless it's 
already broke.
