Greetings from Greenville, SC.  

I am sure that you will get several responses on how
to trailer the boat and more responses on how to go.

May I suggest a route?

Take the Mass Turnpike to I-84, Take I-84 to the 
NY Thruway south, Take the Thruway to Suffern, NY 
and take I 287 to I 78, Then I 78 west to I 81 south.
Then use either I 66/ US 17 or I 64 to cut across Virginia.
    I may be miles longer, but very much less traffic
and avoid all that construction around DC.  And I
believe that it will take less time.
