Brad,
We sail the Merlin on the mid-Hudson River (100 miles north of NYC)
which has quite a strong tidal current (both down river, then up river).
Wind and current sometimes combine against us for the trip home after a
day's sail and though our trusty 25 year old 6 hp Johnson will get us
there, we are seriously considering upgrading to a 9.9. The added
horsepower would cut a hour off a slow motor homeward on some days.
