[Rhodes22-list] Raven's spinnaker

Roger,

Thanks. That's Julie on the leeward side - we were actually pretty level
until this one gust came up - I was on the windward seat and was moving up
to the windward rail just as the friend with the camera took the picture -
we leveled out again right after this shot (no comments on how my weight
could have contributed to that, please <g>).

Thanks for the tips - we're real spinnaker novices at this point. You may
notice a resemblence between this sail and the one of 'Gary Sanford's Raven
with her spinnaker set" on the rhodes22.org site - it came with the boat and
I don't remember where Gary said he purchased it. I've seen the ring of
beads before and wondered how necessary it was. Pointing higher with the
spinnaker is a good thing, though, and we'll look into it.

We had it up again today and, even though it seems smaller to us than the
175% genoa, we went from about 3.8 to about 4.5 mph on a broad reach. Very
cool!

Mark Kaynor
