I might be very wong here, but I always seen the roll feed on that startboard side which does imply a direction.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Roller furling - wrap direction
Does anyone know if there's a "standard" wrap direction for roller furling? I'm asking because I may need to go back to my sailmaker
with a complaint.
With our (circa 1988?) Lee Sails 175% genoa, when the furling line is pulled, the furler turns counter-clockwise looking down at the
furler. This is determined by the sunbrella UV protection being installed on the starboard side of the sail.
Our new 135%, however, has the sacrificial Dacron UV protection installed on the port side of the sail, requiring the furler to turn
clockwise to furl.
This has presented us with the problem of having to relead the furling line and rewind furling spool when we change sails. What a
PITA.
