Bill,
You should be fine as long as you are able to get traction on the ramps.
The short hauls your making won't make a difference on the tranny. I used
our 92 Grand Prix with a maximum towing capacity of 2500 lbs for just what
you are doing. It pulled the empty trailer fine and towed the boat about
500 yards from the marina to my driveway. Make sure the hitch is rated to
the 3500 lbs towing capacity.
