Peter,
There are a bunch of '84 owners on the list. Welcome.
I have an original '84 trailer that came with the boat. Mine is
not galvanized. I would recommend galvanized. The Triad trailers made
to Stan's specifications work and hold up.
I have no knowledge of the other brand. What kind of metal is
it made of? Galvanized only speaks to the coating, not the quality of
iron or steel. What about placement of the bunks? Over the years Stan
has placed the center of gravity to balance on his design trailers.
That is called a trade secret regardless what a salesman from
Performance Trailer's tells you. But even at that the Performance
Trailer might be better if it is way overbuilt. You have to judge that.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] McCotters and trailers
Hello Bob Dilk,
Remember last Memorial Day? Are you the guy from up north with the
Rhodes
in the parking lot at McCotters? Tana and I launched "Kate", our
Starwind
19, at the nearby ramp, while you were working on the Rhodes. If so,
then
it's nice to make the connection with you Bob.
By the way, I would like to take this opportunity to announce to
everyone
that I am now the "contract owner" of Captain Richard Hardt's 1984 R22,
which I am very happy to say is confirmed built by Stan. Thanks Rich,
for
being so patient and downright nice.
Now just have to figure out the trailer part.
Choice 1 - Dual axle Performance Trailer with torsion axles, surge
brakes, galvanized
Choice 2- Single axle Triad, surge brakes, galvanized
They're about the same price.
Ok folks, let's hear it. I am asking for your opinions once more, and
trust
you will not hold back.
- Pete Thorn

You guys are great. Thanks for all the comments and varied opinions.
Isn't
freedom of speech wonderful!
It turns out, I misread a fuzzy hull number on a photograph..
Is there anyone within 2 hours of Raleigh/Durham with a Rhodes 22 on dry
land who would allow me to visit and measure it for a trailer?
