Thanks Bob,
Cool story! I am a racer at heart and cannot take it outta me!
We have had light winds with rising storms every weekend day
this summer. Can really do a number on ya!
My Genny chaffed at the top holding point but not in a race.
was a hassle to get 175 gathered up, I'll tell ya.
Another hassle to get the marina to lower my mast and raise it
once again. Luckily I had done it several times and did all the
prep work and after-work so it cost very little!

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] My rhodes has 8 wires in the standing rigging.
We had great fun Saturday, during our annual solo race in light winds we got
hit with a "micro burst" from an approaching T-storm.
Several boats were knocked flat, one 17' Hunter was capsized, and my 27 year
old Forestay separated at the lower fitting.
But with 8 wires the mast stayed up......
Thank you GBI.
I watched the GBI Furler and Genoa sink out of sight while I was working
hard to get the main down (standard).
BUT as I sat exhausted on the deck, I noticed the furling line was under
load. Between the furling line and the Genoa sheet I was able to recover
both.
Now I need a trip to GBI for a new Forestay installed in the furler.
