Julie,
My boat has been on a mooring for the last three years. The only problem i have encountered, other than occasionally misjudging leeway when trying to pick up the mooring, is a too short mooring bridle which, when combined with a wooden mooring buoy (which had barnacles on it) beat up the first few feet on either side of the bow pretty badly. Because my boat is dark blue the damage was quite noticeable and the repair was of no small consequence. The wooden mooring buoy has been replaced with an inflated ball with bottom paint and the bridle lengthened to what it should be. The damage has not recurred. Make sure your lines are appropriate for your boat and how you plan to attach them to the boat and you should be fine.
