Jay,

We added a special watercraft endorsement to our homeowner's insurance
policy.  We insure thru the Cincinatti Insurance Co.  We have a "stated
value" policy with the coverage limits on the boats, outboard motors,
trailer, & accessories each listed separately:

The "accessories" include things like my spinnakers, on-board electronics,
autopilot, custom stainless steel railings, custom bimini top/boom room,
on-board stereo, custom galley & built-in 2 burner LPG stove, etc.  Thus,
against a total loss, Dynamic Equilibrium is insured for $18,150.00!  The
annual premium for the R-22 is $129.00 & $62.00 for the inflatable.  Perhaps
you could work a deal like this with your insurance agent to get the kind of
coverage you want.  It's much easier to prove the value of a piece of
hardware because you can pull out a catalog & show your insurance agent the
current price.
