Jay,
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't need the topping lift to raise or
lower the position of the boom when the sail is out. The only time you
need the topping lift is when the sail is furled to keep the bottom end
of the boom from dropping. I think this could be accomplished by
swagging a length of cable to a rear stay or a line attached to the rear
stay tensioner.

Folks,
With dead-ending the topping lift for the boom, I'm looking for the
length of cable with thimbles needed. Using the IMF, I need the ability
to drop the boom to the lower position with block and line. Any
recommendations on this?
Thanks,
Jay
