Jim,

Great to see your new boatt. She's a sister ship to mine (Windswept) -
same color combo. I think we talked earlier. I will sail out of Marblehead
in 2003, probably a mooring on the Salem side as the wait for moorings in
the main harbor is 18 YEARS!

I went with the Yamaha 9.9 HT when my Honda 8 was stolen two years ago. I
is heavy, although it adds some needed ballast to the stern as the forward
weight on newer R22's has crept up and they tens to sit bow down. With the
larger prop and higher gearing I find it has better low speed performance
than the Honda did (great for docking) but still has plenty of power to push
the boat when it has too.

2. My jury is out on the 175. I sailed it last year on a CDI furler on the
eastern end of LIS in some pretty good wind. You need a big jib to make up
for the relatively small IMF. I found the boat balanced well in 20 - 25kt
wind with about half the main in and the jib at about 100%. My only
complaint on the 175 is it is a bear to tack when it is near full out, and
when reefed in high wind (when you sometimes can't tack) it is also a bear
to jibe.

Unfortunately unless you upgrade to a Harken or Schaefer furler, head sail
changing is not that covenient (even with the CDI)
