i dont know the answer to your question but you can call a loft and find 
out..im sure you can point better that way...the reason for the separate 
system is that you set it up at the dock and can raise and lower it from the 
cockpit...for a singlehander like my self thats a plus...if i had a regular 
crew that enjoys foredeck work (we used to call them deck apes) i might 
rethink the rig....also by not having it atteched to the forestay i think 
youll get better downwind performance
