Michael (or anyone) I can understand the desire for an anchor roller but I
don't get the rest.
Why would you want to put a UPS type sail out in front of the current
forestay? At that point wouldn't it make more sense to just go with a
cruising spinnaker? Or are you thinking of something more like sprit
mounted spinnaker (?) on boats like some of the Js or the Melges 24s. My
understanding of the benefits of the UPS is that it is simpler to use and
can be used over a wider range wind directions than a spinnaker and as such
it is designed to be behind the forestay.
