mjm is backed up bigtime, last 2 days have gotten nothing done. still have private email backed uppped.

The quick answer is:

1) use a hardware firewall/router at entry with statefull packet inpection(i.e. the sonice wall, and thier others that are cheaper,
time moves on), the software one are a second line of defence and make a great tripwire system.
2)use anti-veris software, message like email and all the music sharing systems will pass thought firewall but all loaded with
nastys(in fact the RIAA has processinal hackers writing hacks, claiming to have infected 90% of the music machines), the software
must be updating every four hours(norton or MaCeff)
3)stay on top of your updates, should be checking windows update once a week and using it(I know you are a mac, but for the rest)
thier are dozens of way for a website to take over your machine today, just viewing a email can screew your machine(the email calls
up html that go to an infected site, you do not even need to click on a attachment)

4)Will was clostest to the ideal, just need to use better AV software. You will not get any proection from "move the IP", "Hide the
IP", "window login screen" etc... it simply does not work.
