i dont use the gb anchor ..like you i keep a danforth in the lazarette...i 
usually set the anchor from the stern, then, depending on the conditions, tie it 
off at the stern or walk it to the bow...have not had a drag yet but ive only 
done it three times....on my old 40 circa 19000 lbs i had a lunch hook 
danforth that was 8 lbs and held us in 15 to 20kts of wind...thank god for bay mud
