I did this once with my first boat.  The boat turned sideways to the wind
and it was the very devil to break the thing out and retrive it.  Never did
it agai.

I vastly prefer to hand over hand from the bow.  I could always haul my
previous 8,500 lb boat against the wind and a two knot current up to the
anchor.
