[Rhodes22-list] How to plan a trip.

Roger: You bet we do. But in this coastal area we are blessed with
constant winds so sail is the way to go.

We always top up the tanks when we are heading out on the off chance we get
becalmed but in ten years that has only happened once.

We pretty well use Rummy's fuel consumption rate and calculate the distance
to assure we have the fuel we need if per chance we had to motor back.

Comments we see on the net always bring us back to the same question: what
training do we open to ourselves before we venture out? Yacht Clubs, Coast
Guard Aux, US Sailing and ASA are all great opportunities for those who want
to play it safe and learn the ropes. Folks should take advantage of these
sources.
