I second this.  I have a spare halyard that exits the top of the mast afore.
Was no doubt installed prior to the previous owner installing the CDI roller
furler.  I use it to raise the mast and to secure the mast forward when/if
the CDI needs to be detached from the bow.  It has come in handy for various
other things along the way (like when my topping lift detached from the boom
once)..
