I ended up buying a motor on eBay.  My first excursion into the on-line auction business, kind of strange.  I found a 1989 8 hp Yamaha that the owner claimed was only run about 10 hours (total) for $760 plus shipping.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

There's a 2 cycle 5 hp Tohatsu long shaft currently out there, should anyone be interested.  Auction is over this evening and the current price is $400.
