Mark,
I forget where you live, but here we have folks who could stitch that up
in a few minutes. It looks well worth a fix rather than replacement.
One thing I have learned about the IMF is you should be sure to have the
boom level (ie lower the topping lift) when you furl in. this assures that
the sail rolls nicely.
Once I was out in very light winds and had the topping lift up for more
curl. A blast of a summer storm came out of nowhere and I quickly furled
up when I got close to marina. When I returned to my slip I had a great
deal of difficulty getting the sail furled out as I was trying to make
things right.
When these things happen, I just sit and cogitate....look at it a long time.
I then lowered the boom for a smooth unfurl!
No canvas sewing in your area? I have done sails on my zigzag machine in the
past.
