Jay,

I am interested, but as a newbie to the R-22, I am unsure of the tradeoffs
and benefits.

After adding electric start to the motor, new sails (new 150% genoa and IMF
Mk-I (for now ;-)) and new cabin cushions, I am also over my self-imposed
limit. :-0

Somebody needs to draw a picture. I'll start You described a four-sided
sail with a vertical batten. I had an image in my mind something like the
one on the left, with ~100 SF IMF Mk-I in blue, ~110SF IMF MK-II in red with
the dashed red line a long batten. Now you say the batten is 30" long?

After drawing it, I see that the batten wouldn't need to be as long as I had
initially pictured in my head. New mental picture is more like the right,
with short batten further aft and lower.

Is either version even close?

Jim Connolly
