Normaly this area is covered by cabin panneling and the opening is about

12inches high and follows the curve of the hull like a triangle to the
bottom 
of the cockpit seat.You would nead at least a foot of standing water in
the 
cockpit for it to spill over.  Come to think of it,  by then it water
would 
be entering through the companian way.
