Wally,
The new boat is an S2 9.2C, 30 ft., center cockpit.
It draws 4' ll" and is set up well for single handling
with the center cockpit. The aft cockpit version is a
very sleek looking boat but mine looks like it needs a
diet, some like the looks of it, some don't. S2 is
still in business building high-end powerboats,
Tiaras, but got out of the sailboat business in the
late 80's. They made some really fast boats and
dominated racing for awhile (Anne races an S2) but
mine was built for comfort not speed. I was hoping to
find a partner for the Rhodes 22 and keep it but so
far no luck. My wife wants me to sell it and that's
probably what I need to do. The R-22 actually has a
bigger cockpit and is better suited to sailing
Pickwick but I wanted something I do extended stays
and trips on and the S2 9.2C certainly is more
comfortable for that. Pickwick is a very nice lake
but very developed (lots of million dollar homes) and
gets crowded on the weekends. Most of my pilot
friends do their boating during the week and let the 9
to 5 ers have it for the weekend. I think the first
trip I take will be downriver to Kentucky Lake to see
Anne and then upriver to see your lake. I'll probably
move the boat one lake at a time and leave it for a
week or two at a time and auto home. Kentucky lake is
only a couple of days sailing. Your lake will take
some more time.
