[Rhodes22-list] Ky Lake Levels

Anne,
Don't blame me, my rain went straight to the
Mississippi, which by the way, is now out of its
banks. About 95' or 96' I was still living in the
Airstream in the river bottom and teaching part-time
in the schoolhouse. I had to go to the American
Airlines training facility at DFW (almost abreviated
AA but that might be confusing) for two weeks to
instruct and paid a guy to drag the "Silver Bullet" up
to high ground (under the I-40 bridge). "Now you're
sure that area never floods?" "Nah, hasn't flooded in
40 years". That was the year of the 40 year flood. I
came back two weeks later, parked on the inter-state,
and hiked down the bank. The river was moving so fast
against the bridge pilings it was whistling and the
water came right up to the tires on the trailer. The
last half-dozen or so that pulled out didn't quite get
high enough and took on water. The following year I
pulled completely out of the river bottom. Now I'm
living on high ground so there must be progress in
there somewhere. The damned grass is growing so fast
it has to be mowed every three days. I'm thinking
about letting it go and just putting a "gone sailing"
sign in the front yard.
