Steve in Florida,
Several people have had to repair their motor mounts. Rummy is
an expert on the subject. Here is a copy of a post from earlier this
year, note that it came off the sailnet rhodes list:

Rummy,
I ran into the same problem two years ago. I noticed a crack about
the middle of the board. I started by trying to fill the crack with
epoxy, to little effect. So I took the lift apart and looked at it
closer, drilling some exploratory holes and examining the internals of
the the mounting board. It appears to me that my mounting board is an
open backed fiberglass shell, with a couple of pieces of plywood filling
in the hollow back and epoxied in place. Where the two pieces of
plywood came together, a crack had developed and stretched around the
rim of the top of the shell. My first thought was to saturate the whole
thing with epoxy. But that could get pretty heavy. So instead, I
filled in the crack with some epoxy thickened with high density adhesive
filler. I then covered the entire back with a couple of layers of
fiberglass mat and epoxied that into place. When I was done I painted
the whole thing, to reduce the epoxy exposure to UV, and bolted it back
on. Its been on now for two years, supporting my 8HP Nissan with
electrical start and charging system (a fairly heavy motor for a
2cycle), and I have not seen any effect.

                         Jeff

Biscayne Bay and am a little familiar. "Stiltsville" is still there, but
not sure how much longer with legal battles going on over those
properties. I know that the public marina at Coconut Grove where you
can launch your boat is known for having a lot of vagrants and theft.
I'm sure the rentable slips are fine, but the parking lot at night is
questionable. You can take private boats into the park for snorkeling,
but no fishing or lobstering, and care should be taken not to ground in
sensitive ecological seagrass areas where fines can be steep. Iwould be
interested in joining for part of the trip, (don't think I can get 2
wks. off of work) Steve in Pompano Beach
