Sam:

I sail on the same lake as Rummy. My boat came without a
name and I have not decided on one (three years is not considered slow
on the south end of the lake). Rummy is on the north end, I am on the
south end. There are now only two other active Rhodes on the lake (over
1,000 miles of shoreline?). See:

http://www.lakesusa.com/areas/maps/marinas/hartwell.htm

Rummy and Bob Keller probably had a blast today, winds
gusting over 30 mph. I am waiting to see their reports on the list.

Michael reported that you delisted. You cannot keep up with
the gang if you plan to hibernate.

                                      Ed K

Thanks for the idea on the plug -that will help out- although it is fun
when people on board see the water coming in and I just tell them that
we do not have to worry -we will not sink ----This leaves a few of them
wondering if I know what I am doing -and after I tell them of former
boats that I have sailed in high winds and flipped and sunk ( submerged
) this keeps them on their toes. But after a good sail

at night they are always amazed at how I get back to the dock and dock
without any problems. So the next time out they have confidence in what
I say and do.

Pirate Sam What is the name of your boat? Do you sail with Rummy?

Sam:

It is great to have a power hitter (sailor) in the line up. I am
not so sure it is so great to have your luck with the wind.

Sounds like you need a large size drain plug for the cockpit. Other
Rhodies use them when they load up.

Sailing on Rummy's Lake in South Carolina.

Who am I ?

Just another Rhodes 22 sailer -sailing on Lake Monona -Madison

Wi. ---Sailing "El Draque" --former name "Pax"

I have sailed with 14 adults on board and had no problems with the boat

(can't say that for the adults though )

I like the fact that the boat will not sink although with 14 on board
there

is about 1" of water in the cockpit ! The best time I have sailing is
at

night .I have had this boat for 2 years now and have also owned 3 other

sailboats -- An O'Day 19 -turtled in 2001 when hit by 40mph gust !!! A

Lugar 17 and a long time ago (1976)

a homemade cat -that was demasted during a Tornado watch --We were
sailing

the boat at the time ! I have been sailing for 37 years .
