Wally,

To raise and lower the bimini we have to raise the boom above level - the
aft end of the boom is above the level of the backstay tensioning line on
the backstays. Once it's set up we can sail w/ the bimini up, although we
generally reserve that for only the hottest, calmest days. It makes seeing
the main, the Windex, and accessing the IMF furling and outhaul lines a
pain. When the sun's beating down, however, that's a small price to pay for
the shade it provides.

Steve or any other Bimini owners:

Does the boom have to be at the highest setting or can you lower the boom
and still use bimini?
