I am not anti war, being old enough to have been in the big one but
It was a declared war.
The country was at war - not some fighting while others raped the savings of
the trusting
Wage and price controls were in effect as was rationing so an attempt was
made to be uniformly fair
The cause was pretty close to good enough to die for.
The situations are simply not comparable
Invading Iraq in my opinion was misguided and then mishandled. That kind of
money and blood could have accomplished what should have been our
Afghanistan goals in the first place - now if we are really serious about
those goals for the long run, it is going to cost us a lot more and maybe
impossible if we go bankrupt first. I hate to pick on your hero but I
really do not think Bush has a broad enough view or understanding of the
world to be allowed such a unique position - hope you turn out to be right
but based on his policies so far, unlike the leadership and goals of WW 2,
he does not inspire me to follow him into the fray - unless maybe if he was
in
front of me.
