I lived through the Vietnam War.  We had lots of "allies" back then.  They 
sent token troops and didn't openly oppose us in the UN, mainly to keep the Cold 
War largess flowing.  Substitute "War on Terror" for "Cold War" and its dega 
vu all over again.
