Will, as you can see we are changing as you speak. I'm sure the list
doesn't mind - it's just that some of us may be really stupid when it comes
to something so simple as reef points (I'd go with the second set). Your
boom is fairly short so you may be able to tuck the excess sail in and not
worry about tying anything extra.
I have a strong preference for a tiller just because it's simpler (less to
go wrong and easier to figure when it does) and you can move it up out of
the cockpit for those happy hours in the cockpit. I've actually never
sailed a boat with a wheel but I think for a small boat you'd get a better
feel for the forces at work with a tiller.
