[Rhodes22-list] I got a dilemma people

Doug,
Good thoughts r.e. the web site - I agree. I think keeping the web sites
"separate but linked" rather than "all munged together" makes a lot of
sense.

I'd like to play devil's advocate, for a second...
First, regarding the website:
I think it may be a bit confusing for people who don't know the history to
understand the relationship between a Rhodes website (granted, primarily a
R22 site) and a Seaward site. My recommendation is to have 2 different
domain names (one for each site) and to provide links to each. I think you
could re-create the basic navigation scheme for the Seaward26.org site from
Rhodes22.org, with just a few modifications to allow linking to the other
from the global navigation.
Really very little extra work to do it that way, and it should be much
easier to understand. OK, so there will be twice the cost for the domain
name. We should work that out so that MJM isn't eating that cost as well as
the cost of hosting.
Regarding the list:
Could the change be accommodated by doing nothing? Perhaps just changing
the charter? It seems to me that we've had people changing boats before and
staying on the list. Nobody yells at Rik about it. Of course, Rik doesn't
ask questions much anymore. Doesn't mean he couldn't, though. I can see
the logic more on this one, though. But maybe we could wait to see if it is
an issue before a radical change. We still have the occasional R19 and
other Rhodes owner on the list, too. How do we continue to welcome them?
Just a couple of thoughts.

I'd go with two URLs pointing to the same site - it would make it easier
for folks to find us. Seaward26.org is the most obvious. I was thinking you
might want two separate home pages but given the community here you
probably want a common home page with links to the appropriate info.
There have been lots of different boats with the Seward name.Looks like
someone is maintaining an owners site at http://home.att.net/~seaward25/
with info about all sizes of Seawards. There is a forum on the
trailersailor site at
http://bbs.trailersailor.com/forums/seaward/index.cgi/#7773 At least one
former R22er there with a 25. That might mean there is not as much need for
an email list.
