My wife and I just bought an old Rhodes 22 (1975) that needs a lot of work. We initially bought it in order to keep the slip at our neighborhood's marina, but we both like the boat and want to fix it up.
It is missing the centerboard, and the tiller, and head. The rudder needs fixing, and the vberth is rotting away. The sails seem to be in good condition, but all the running rigging needs to be replaced. Also, some of the stays need to be replaced.
We took it out of the water (It was floating) and had the bottom pressured wash. We only found 2 small blisters under all the growth that was covering the hull. We do not think that there is any structural problem with the boat, so we are going to try to fix it up.
Now, we need some advice. We are handy, but we have never worked on a boat.
We will be posting some pictures and asking lots of questions.
Right now we are looking for a used centerboard, traveler assembly, and the goose-neck?? that attaches the pop-up top to the mast.
We will try to fix the rudder, but would prefer to get an used one.
Does anybody out there has any of these parts?
