[Rhodes22-list] Winter sailing blues - cure found

Folks,
All this talk of winter sailing while Raven's been on the hard has been
tough for us, Christmas parade float notwithstanding. The weather doesn't
help much, either - Sunday we were sitting on the patio in our shirt sleeves
having a beer with some friends, and this morning we woke up to a blustery 8
degrees F. Sheesh.
Being weak willed (and perhaps a bit weak-minded), we decided to do
something about it.
Julie and I went to the bank this morning and signed the papers to buy a
1986 Tayana 37. At about 15 feet longer on deck, 3 1/2 feet wider, and about
10 tons heavier, we're hoping she'll be big enough to distract us from these
wintertime non-sailing blues. Hopefully by next winter (or the one after
that) we'll be in warmer climes and won't have to go through this sort of
withdrawal again - I doubt we could afford it again, anyway <g>.
Actually, it's been in the works since we went to the SSCA gam in Melbourne,
FL last November, but we didn't want to say anything until it was a done
deal - you know how these things sometimes go. We're bringing her up to the
Chesapeake next spring and plan to gradually spend more and more time aboard
over the next year with an eye toward eventually living aboard and heading
south. Time'll tell...
