[Rhodes22-list] Spinnaker

Andy,
Andy when dealing with a used Spinnaker, the measurement do not
have to be exact. While some purest may say they do, different
manufacturers make sails of different measurements for the same boat.
Any 22 foot boats' Spinnaker will function ok. Then you have a problem
on this list of people not knowing their sail measurements or believe
that by revealing them they are giving out a trade secret. I have found
that a foot difference on the foot of a spinnaker does not mean much.
Now the UPS sail referred to on this list is another story. It
is a new design for the Rhodes 22. It has to fit where it is designed
to fit. See the web site for details and educate yourself on this sail.
See: http://www.rhodes22.org/upssail/index.html
Also one of the Kentucky Lake crowd posted a picture of flying a
symmetrical spinnaker without a pole, just raised to the top of the mast
with the bail and block that I mentioned and flown with two sheets. It
works well downwind. However, I usually use a block attached to the bow
pulpit for one sheet. See attachment.

Andy,
If you don't know about Atlantic Sail Traders already, perhaps the link
would be useful to you. If you look long enough, you can find some
great
bargins! http://www.usedsails.com/
