[Rhodes22-list] UPS sail

Bob, I'm not one of your hot shot types, but I've got an '84 w/ std main
sail. My boat came with new sails so I didn't make the decisions there.

It carries a partially battened main and a 135 genoa which is furled on a
CDI furler which I have almost no problems with. In fact the only problems
I have had with it were operator error wherein I allowed the can to get
fouled when unfurling without maintaining some resistance on the furling
line. I also recently replaced the old line with one slightly thicker -
well, just new so plumper. It pretty well fills up the can and I'm
considering removing the core from the first part of the line (ok.... is
that the "standing" end?) - that which is attached to the forestay assembly.
CDI recommends this to accommodate a thicker line - easier on the hands.

I have a pole to hold the genoa out for down wind which I used the one time
I raced (we won). I know nothing about the UPS. If I had a clue how to use
it and spare change I'd love to fly a spinnaker.

I generally sail with the boom in the highest position and I'm usually
dealing with being overpowered rather than trying to move in light winds.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] UPS sail

I am at a crossroads and I need to plan out my future sail purchases for my
1975 Rhodes 22.

I would appreciate an update on UPS sail. Happy or not and what Genoa do you
have on the roller fuller and is it GBI or other.

thank you

Bob
