To the new people on the list:
1. Each of us was once a new person on this list.
2. Each of us thought the questions we asked had never been asked before.
3. Each of us was somewhat offended to learn that the old people on the list had not remained as subscribers solely for chance to answer, yet again, questions that had been patiently answered scores of times before.
4. Most of the questions asked by new people on the list have been answered, in detail, in the FAQ section created by a list member who, if memory serves me right, no longer owns a Rhodes 22.
5. The old people on the list think of one another as old friends. There is a lot of pushing and shoving. Anyone is welcome to join in.
6. One of the stabilizing old members of the list recently left, and we are looking to find the new voice of moderation. (Ed is a possible candidate, although he may not be old enough.)
7. Michael, it's time to send out the charter.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] new to list & goodbye
Good morning.
I signed up for the list yesterday, and received my first digest today. Whew!
Like many, I thought the list would provide some helpful information, and it seems to. And like others, my impression is that most of you seem to be generous and accomodating persons.
But I have to admit that I was stunned to read some of the comments posted on the site, regardless of cause. And when another member expressed his concerns, it appears that he was told he hadn't been around long enough to post his opinion. Then he was told he was violating the public trust by using his computer to send an email. Again, whew!
After some research, I am thinking of purchasing a Rhodes 22. It seems like a terrific boat. And after all, it is a boat that I'm interested in.
On the other hand, life is short, and there is plenty to read during the course of the day, so I'll say goodbye and unsubscribe.
