[Rhodes22-list] Just a thought.

As a regular reader and occasional contributor, I too gave some thought to
space taken up by the Seaward dialog, and also came to some conclusions.
I happen to agree that it is the people that makes this list what it is.
The discussion of a 'foreign' boat isn't much different than the political
and sports discussions that get going on the list. It all makes up the
character of this list, and often provides excellent food for thought. The
biggest improvement to the management of the list has been the discipline
I've seen everyone use in keeping the subject line on topic.
Although I'd move up to the (Still Only A Dream) Rhodes 26, this afternoon
if I could, I like hearing the experiences people are having with other
boats, Flicka, Seaward, classic runabouts, Rhodes 19 etc. These are people
I've come to know and their comments, positive and negative, go a long way
in influencing my choices and opinions.
I also think that a lot of the chatter about the Seaward will settle down
after the boats are delivered and get sorted out. These people still have a
lot of good Rhodes experience to share with the group. I'd hate to have them
feel unwelcome, because they are sailing something else, at the moment.
There is something to be said about the GBI umbrella too.

Rummy and all,
Yeah, you are right about the traffic on the Seaward. BUT, I was thinking
about this too. True this list is named the R22 list, but when we really
think about it, isn't it really more like the "I bought a boat from Stan
and/or Elton list"?? In my estimation we (at least I) are here more because
our friends, or people we know are here, than because of which brand of
boat we have. I know there are other Seaward forums already and I'm sure
most who are migrating to the 26 probably are already communicating on
those as well. I also belong to the Flicka 20 list, but I still come here
because I like you Rummy, as well as a lot of other folks on the list.
Also, this list tends to be a little less full of the topic police than
most and is more fun to be around because the topic tends to vary from day
to day.
I can't say if this diversity is a good thing or a bad thing for the list.
I suppose opinion on this will vary from one person to the next. For me
(yes I know I'm now an outsider) coming here is more about staying in touch
with my friends than talking about a specific boat.
Just my 2 cents worth, probably wasn't worth that much though. :-)
Hey, somebody sail a little bit for me. Let me know where we went. I'm
working again this weekend.....as usual.
