Peter,
If you are running windows xp or later, if you scan for viruses
you might not rid your software of bad things. You need to scan as
system administrator and before you scan disable the system restore
function. Apparently, things can stay in the system restore file and
not be cleaned out. This is normally an automatic function that takes
the computer back to a good working mode when something causes a
software glich. Maybe Michael, Mark or Steve can explain this Bill
Gates function.

Yes, I have nc road runner and probably was the "infection" source that
started this virus mess. Thanks Michael for the help.
An updated McAfee virus scan and a updated current Win 2000 found no
problems, though. Everything seems to be just fine now.
