Wally,
According to the FEB., 2004 Rhodes Owners list your Hull Number is
GBX220144A84.
Owners on the list that submitted their hull numbers as ending in A84 are:
Marc Beroz - GBX220139A84
Wally Buck - GBX220145A84
Lloyd Crowther - GBX220115A84
Will Gower - GBX220113A84
Bruce Greenwald - GBX220122A84
Kip Hansen - GBX220123A84
Peter Horn - GBX220144A84
In addition, there was one A81 and two A82s.
As this wonderful data base grows bigger we must revise a couple of previous
guesses:
(a) Maybe Stan certified all his hulls for 1986 as being built in August as
a business practice - there were no other months listed for 81, 82 or 84.
(b) Maybe Stan began his hull numbers at 00100 - there were no numbers
listed as 000## or 0000#.
While this data is way too small to be any more than a joke, such reality
has never deterred me before so I will go bravely on the record as saying my
current conclusion is that Stans production was less than 50 boats a year,
thereby costing Stan most of the fortune that made him the Henry Ford of the
yachting world. Sorry Stan!
But to be serious(finally), this exercise started out as a question about
the length of genoa tracks on the '84 model R22 brought on by the more
weighty discussions that have dominated the list lately. Any more answers
concerning that subject would be of interest and I will stop all this (what
was that word of Roger's, oh yeah) BS.
