Ed,
Most Window programs can be uninstalled easily. If you have the original
software you can always reinstall applications. Go to your control panel
and you will see an icon for "add/remove programs." Hopefully the
applications you want to remove will utilize this feature. As long as you
have the original software to reinstall you can't do much harm. This process
may leave a few files here and there but for the most part it will work
fine. If the application is not listed just delete the whole directory. If
you don't have the CD or floppy to reinstall software you may not want to do
thiis.
Data files can be easily deleted as well. Just throw all the stuff you don't
want into the trash and delete. Viewing files by "details" instead of
"icons" should give you an idea of creation date.
I would also suggest that you back up any data files on a somewhat regular
basis. If something goes wrong you can always reinstall your programs and
you wil still have the data.
You probably already know that you need to delete your internet temp files
on a regular basis. For that matter you should also delete Windows Temp file
contents. Everything you open is saved in a temp file.
Good luck!
Wally
