Doug,

I voluteer as crew and rigger on a traditionally rigged tall ship, the
Friendship of Salem.  We do a fair amount of splicing.  I got my fids from
the local Boat/US store.  They carry the 3 strand fids in two sizes and the
hollow fids for splicing braided line.  Now a real marlinespike is much
harder to find.
