I may have to leave if this list gets too infected with bilermakers.
(I graduated from IU) ... I actually talked to the Michigan City
Harbormaster about slip availability a couple of days ago.  There
are two city marinas - Washington Harbor and Trail Creek.  There
used to be a third - Sprague Point - but the local riverboat casino
bought the land for expansion.  Trail Creek is ugly and rather polluted.
I was there last year.  You also have to go through two bridges to get 
to
the lake.  There is now a waiting list for slips in Trail Creek due to 
the closing
of Sprague Point.  The Washington Park marina is very nice, but there 
are
a limited number of 25' slips and the waiting list is very long.  Thirty
foot slips have a shorter waiting list but are considerably more 
expensive.
I expect that the City will use the Sprague Point proceeds to build more
slips elsewhere for next season.
